Why some laiki markets change street
By the Laikimap team ·
In Attica, 155 laiki markets are not always on the same street. The producers' federation publishes rotation schedules in which a market moves between two or more streets during the year, usually for about four months at a time.
How the rotation works
The schedules on laikesagores.gr give each market a street for a period of dates. The Monday market at Palatiani in Ilion, for example, is on Agiou Georgiou from 3 November 2025 to 3 May 2026 and on Theodoras from 4 May to 2 November 2026. Across the rotating markets the median period is 125 days: a quarter are shorter than 117 days and a quarter longer than 177.
| Municipality | Markets that change street |
|---|---|
| Athens | 24 |
| Piraeus | 8 |
| Aigaleo | 6 |
| Peristeri | 6 |
| Elliniko-Argyroupoli | 5 |
| Ilion | 5 |
| Nea Ionia | 4 |
| Nikaia-Agios Ioannis Renti | 4 |
| Salamina | 4 |
| Acharnes | 3 |
Finding this week's street
Laikimap works out the street for the date you are looking at: a market's page shows today's street, and choosing another date in the calendar shows where the market will be then. Where a street in the schedule has no exact point yet, the pin is marked as approximate and directions go to the street address.
Rotation schedules come from laikesagores.gr, the federation of producers' markets, and cover Attica. In other cities Laikimap lists each market on its published street.

Market days, streets and hours come from the official registries and the producers' federation, as on every market's page. The tables are computed from the same data as the map.
