How the Heraklion markets work

Markets in Heraklion are handled by the Municipality of Heraklion's Outdoor Trade Department, under a regulation codified by the municipal council on 30 September 2024 (decision 431/2024). Laikimap lists its eight markets, one or two a day from Monday to Saturday: two on Tuesday, two on Wednesday and one on each other day. There are none on Sundays or public holidays. The list follows the municipality's web page as archived in October 2025.

Winter hours (1 October – 31 March) are 07:30–14:30 and summer hours (1 April – 30 September) 07:00–14:30; the Saturday market closes later, at 15:00. The Thursday and Saturday markets share one site, the Lydaki plot beside Itanou street in Pateles–Kipoupoli.
